Adopt A Talmid
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: June 3, 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Adopt A Talmidwebsite and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, submitting an application, making a donation, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. About the program
Adopt A Talmid's mission is to help families manage the cost of Jewish education by empowering communities to directly support local families facing the burden of tuition expenses.
The Service is operated on behalf of ADOPT A TALMID (EIN 41-4335327). References to "we," "us," or "the program" mean the initiative and its authorized administrators and committee.
2. Eligibility and account types
The Service supports distinct account roles:
- Parentsmay apply for tuition assistance for eligible children and manage their family's application status.
- Donors may browse approved student listings (where available), sponsor students through monthly partnerships, and manage recurring gifts.
- Schools may submit partnership applications so that their institution can be considered for inclusion in the program.
- Administrators are program staff with access to review tools. Admin access is granted only by the program.
You must provide accurate registration information, keep your password secure, and use only the account type that matches your role. You are responsible for activity under your account.
3. No guarantee of approval
Submitting an application — whether as a parent or as a school — does not guarantee approval. All scholarship and school partnership applications are reviewed at our sole discretion. We may approve, waitlist, decline, or request additional information. Criteria may include financial need, program area eligibility, documentation completeness, school participation standards, and available funding.
Scholarship assistance is only available when both a family's application and the child's school have been approved through the program. Parent approval alone does not make funds available if the school has not completed partnership review and been set up as an eligible program school. Likewise, school approval alone does not guarantee assistance for any particular family or child.
4. Parent applications
When you apply as a parent, you agree to:
- Provide complete and truthful information about your household, income, assets, and children.
- Upload requested verification documents, including tax returns when required.
- Notify the program promptly if your circumstances change materially during review or after approval.
- Select only schools that are listed as eligible in the program for the relevant school year. Custom or unapproved schools may affect eligibility.
Approved applications may be subject to annual renewal. We may adjust status — including revoking approval — if information is inaccurate, incomplete, or no longer meets program standards.
5. School partnership applications
When you apply on behalf of a school, you represent that you are authorized to submit information for that institution. You agree to:
- Provide accurate enrollment, tuition, and organizational information, including a valid EIN.
- Participate in financial transparency and accountability reviews when required as a condition of partnership.
- Comply with participation standards established by the program, including tuition increase limits and scholarship transparency requirements for participating schools.
Failure to comply with program policies may result in suspension or termination of school participation. The fund and its committee retain sole discretion and final authority over scholarship decisions, approvals, and distributions.
6. Donations and sponsorships
Donors may support the mission through one-time gifts on the public donate page or through logged-in donor tools. Student sponsorships are monthly commitments of either a full partnership ($250/month) or a half partnership ($125/month). Combined active and pending sponsorships for a single student will not exceed $250 per month.
Payments may be processed by:
- Credit or debit card, or ACH bank transfer through Stripe. These payments may include a processing fee if you choose to cover it at checkout.
- The Donors Fund, when available, using your Donors Fund account credentials. Donors Fund grants are subject to that platform's terms and your account authorization.
Donations and sponsorships are charitable gifts to ADOPT A TALMID to support tuition assistance as described on the site. They are not purchases of goods or services, and they do not create a contractual entitlement to sponsor a particular child unless and until a sponsorship is confirmed as active in your account.
Sponsorship checkout sessions that are not completed may expire after a limited period. Recurring gifts may be cancelled according to the options presented in your donor account or by contacting the program.
7. Privacy and student listings
We protect student and family privacy. Donor-facing listings share only the information needed to describe a student in the program — not full home addresses or unnecessary personal details. Map displays use neighborhood-level positioning rather than exact home locations.
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Misrepresent your identity, role, or affiliation with a school or family.
- Submit false, misleading, or forged application or payment information.
- Attempt to access another user's account or restricted admin areas.
- Scrape, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or its security measures.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.
Nothing on the Service constitutes legal, tax, or financial advice. Consult your own advisors regarding deductibility of charitable contributions.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ADOPT A TALMID AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, VOLUNTEERS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Contact
Questions about these Terms or the program may be directed through the contact channels provided in program communications or by replying to official emails sent from our verified sender address.
